Argentine Black & White Tegus
The Argentine Black & White Tegu (Tupinambis merianae) is a large, intelligent lizard from South America. This is the same species we sell below, but the Argentine Black & White Tegu bloodlines come specifically from the central coastal Pampas regions where the temperatures are warm and humid in summer; then cold, occasionally with some light snow, during the winter. These range in size from 3 to 4+ feet snout to tail length.

You may request a specific sex at no additional charge. Probing a hatchling tegu is around 85% to 90% accurate and we will do our best to make sure you get the sex you want.
Why should you order a tegu from Sisco Reptiles? We have the most tame tegus around. Ours are socialized from the moment they hatch! Learn more and see our video here.
White Headed Tegus
The White Headed Tegu (Tupinambis merianae) is a large, intelligent lizard from South America. This is the same species we sell above, but this Tegu is generally much lighter in color, they are referred to as "White Headed Tegus". These are a color variation, that we are selectively breeding to keep the white headed appearance that so many people seek. Males range in size from 3.5 to 4.5+ feet snout to tail length. In the past, the name "Chacoan White Head" was given to this variation, but it has been discovered that the 'chacoan' name given to these tegus was merely a designer name, and that 'chacoans' do not originate from the Chaco region of Argentina, as such, we have chosen to drop the 'chacoan' part of the name. 'White Head' describes these tegus perfectly without the need for the confusing 'chacoan' label.

Blue Tegus
Blue Tegu coloration is highly viable. Blue Tegus average from 3 to 3.5 feet long. They have a distinct darkened nose & have black 'tear drops' beneath the eyes. As they mature they generally develop either high white, powder blue, or platinum blue tint. In the last couple years of keeping these we have decided this slightly smaller tegu species is much easier to house as they do require less space.

We do not breed Red Tegus because they require a lot of vitamins/fruit in thier diet. Lack of proper amounts of fruits/vitamins can cause serious and painful skin issues in Red Tegus. We have seen so many horrible cases of this when people just can't get their Red Tegu to eat a proper diet that we have decided to stick to tegu species that are less demanding of our customers. If you are looking for a red tegu, we would suggest Bert Langerwerf at www.agamainternational.com
